FAQ
How do I determine the offset of my chainring?
Chainring offset is the distance between the centerline of the chainring teeth and the mounting surface where the ring attaches to the crank.
If the offset is not printed on the chainring, you can measure it manually. Lay the chainring on an even surface with the teeth facing up. Then measure the distance from this plane to the centerline of the teeth to determine the offset value.
Common offset values are 0mm, 3mm, and 6mm.
Ochain spiders are designed to match a 3mm offset. To achieve a 6mm or greater offset, use the appropriate Chainline Adjust Kit.
Why doesn't my Ochain come back properly?
If your Ochain isn't returning properly, it's typically due to the orientation of the black pads pointing towards the inner component of the Ochain. This misalignment can hinder the smooth movement of the Ochain mechanism.
In case adjusting the black pads doesn't resolve the issue, you should inspect them for thickness and wear. Excessive wear can impede the Ochain's movement and necessitate replacement.
If you find that the black pads are worn, it's recommended to perform a service on your Ochain. Our service kit contains all the necessary components to restore your Ochain to optimal condition.
How do I choose the right Ochain for my bike?
Choosing the right Ochain is easyâjust follow these two steps:
- Â Select your crankset or e-bike motor model.Â
- Check your chainring offsetâOchain spiders have a 3mm offset by default. If your setup needs a 6mm or greater offset, youâll need the Chainline Adjust Kit, available in our store.Â

How much should I tighten the nuts and screws on my Ochain?
The tightening specifications for nuts and screws on your Ochain depend on the specific model. Here's a breakdown:
Ochain-R:
Nuts: Tighten to 5Nm.
Screws: Tighten from 3.5Nm up to 4.5Nm.
Ochain-E:
Nut: Tighten to 5Nm.
Screws: Tighten from 4Nm up to 4.5Nm.
Ochain-R4:
Nuts: Tighten to 5Nm.
Screws: Tighten from 4Nm up to 4.5Nm.
Periodically check the nuts and screws on your Ochain for tightness, especially after significant use or when performing routine maintenance. If any components become loose, tighten them to the specified torque values as outlined in the manufacturer's recommendations.
